Origanum laevigatum 'Herrenhausen' x 3 large plugs
If you made a cloud for the garden of soft purple to pink flowers it would be 'Herrenhausen'. There are lots of culinary Origanums, oregano, on the market but the flowering garden versions have yet to really receive attention except by garden designers. Paired with Echinaceas and Phlox there isn't a more simple yet brilliant combination.
In warm climates are are hard cut after flower, be brave, will keep the plant full and promote a second bloom. Full sun and average to good drainage are the only other things this plant needs. In colder climates, hardy to zone 5, be sure to keep the crown clear of debris so winter wet doesn't potentially rot the crown. One of the more common mistakes with this plant is confusing winter hardiness problems for what actually is cold wet soil around the crown.
