A beautiful spring flower garden starts with daffodils and peonies. A few years back, when my friend Mallory and I discussed creating a flower garden—her adoring peonies—I began to delve into what constitutes a flower garden. The two flowers that immediately sprang to mind were peonies and daffodils. Spring is the season we yearn to spend time in the garden, and occasionally, it's when we actually can. Those splendidly cool yet warm spring days, when the daffodils bloom and the peonies start to emerge, are unparalleled. Regardless of the year's challenges—be it frost, freeze, or simply being too busy—peonies and daffodils reliably grace us with their beauty. They are the quintessential flowering plants for any flower garden.
